D.A.B Digital Radio
 
 Digital Audio Broadcasting or 'DAB digital radio' has been developed by a consortium of manufacturers and broadcasters.

 

How does it work?

DAB car radio works by using both MPEG and COFDM (Coded Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplex) technology which converts the music or speech from analogue signal into digital (binary) code.

 

How is this different from FM?

The sort of interference which commonly disturbs FM reception (caused by radio signals bouncing off buildings and hills) is eliminated within DAB signals. DAB car radio technology is able to filter out interference and correct signal error
